In Brief: The proletariat is the working class that earns a livelihood by selling their labour in exchange for a wage. They have little choice but to work for capital since they do not have other means of survival. The bourgeoisie is the capital owning class, appropriating surplus values from workers who create wealth. This exploitation of the proletariat is inevitable and so the proletariat and the bourgeoisie classes will forever be entrenched in antagonism.
